Overview
The Datto RMM 13.0.0 release introduced a more streamlined and user-friendly Datto EDR integration process. While it simplified integration for new deployments, existing standalone deployments require some additional steps to redeploy agents.
Challenges of separate purchases
Previously, customers who purchased Datto EDR separately from Datto RMM faced a hurdle. They couldn't seamlessly deploy EDR agents from RMM, nor could they see EDR alerts in RMM. In fact, no EDR and RMM workflow integrations were available. Only those EDR instances that were created from within the RMM interface could be integrated.
The new solution
Now, you can enter the Datto EDR tenant URL and API key of any existing EDR instance into the Datto RMM console to integrate it. This improvement removes the requirement that integrated EDR instances be created from within the RMM interface. It also ensures a smooth connection between the two products and guarantees that all existing workflow integrations continue to function seamlessly.
Important considerations
It's important to keep in mind the following considerations when integrating your Datto EDR instance with Datto RMM:
-
Standalone EDR setup: You'll need to have a standalone EDR tenant set up before attempting to create an integration.
-
Post-integration functionality: Once integrated, your standalone EDR tenant will function identically to any other "EDR integrated with RMM" tenant. You'll benefit from familiar functionality and centralized management within the RMM interface.
FAQ
The following topics address questions commonly asked by our customers and answered by our Product Management team.
No, the order of purchases doesn't affect the integration process. Regardless of which product you purchased first, you can integrate them through the Datto RMM setup process.
Agent deployment via an Endpoint Security policy within Datto RMM and one-to-one location syncing between RMM and EDR will work after integration configuration. To ensure a smooth deployment process, we recommend not deploying the EDR agent before integrating your instance with RMM.
The updated integration process is best suited for new Datto EDR deployments. However, it's important to consider how the updated process will affect existing standalone EDR deployments with multiple locations and agents.
To use Datto RMM for centralized management of Datto EDR deployments, you'll need to uninstall any existing agents deployed via the standalone EDR instance and redeploy them through RMM. The existing organizations and locations created with your standalone EDR instance will remain. The EDR instance will also receive the synced organizations and locations from RMM.
